Akihabara Half-Day Card Shop Course (3 to 4 Hours)

This is a model route for covering as many Akihabara card shops as possible, as efficiently as possible, in a half day — roughly three to four hours. The key idea is to start in the dense cluster of shops near the station and move north along Chuo-dori in a single direction. Cutting out backtracking means you can see noticeably more shops in the same amount of time. Most shops open around midday and stay open into the evening rather than first thing in the morning, so you'll find more of them open if you go from midday through early evening.

STEP 1 | Electric Town Exit & Radio Kaikan
Exit JR Akihabara Station through the Electric Town Exit and head straight to Radio Kaikan, right by the station. It has shops spread across several floors, each with its own genre and feel, so decide in advance whether you'll start at the top and work down or start at the bottom and work up to avoid wasted movement. Since you can cover several floors in a single building, budgeting 30 minutes to an hour is enough to check out the main shops.

STEP 2 | Along Chuo-dori
From Radio Kaikan, head out to Chuo-dori. Work your way north through the Electric Town Exit area, checking both the buildings along the avenue and the ones tucked into the side streets. Beyond just the storefronts, take a look at the tenant directories posted at the entrances of mixed-use buildings — that's how you'll spot upper-floor shops that are easy to miss. The street tends to get crowded on weekend afternoons, so if you'd rather take your time, weekdays or the late morning to early afternoon window is a good bet.

STEP 3 | On toward Suehirocho
Keep going as far as the Suehirocho / Chuo-dori area, where you can compare inventory at a calmer pace. If a shop catches your interest, save it to your favorites on the spot — that way you won't have to think twice when picking shops in the route planner later. If you have time left, retrace your steps and revisit any shops that caught your eye.

If you want to focus on one particular card game, checking which shops carry it in advance cuts down on wasted detours. For example, it's efficient to check the full list of shops carrying Pokémon TCG, Yu-Gi-Oh! (OCG), or One Piece Card Game before building them into your route.
