Description

Mandarake Complex is an 8-story building on the corner of an alley just off Chuo-dori, easy to spot thanks to its all-black exterior and red signage. It sits near the entrance to Myojin-dori, not far from the AKB48 Theater, about a 4-minute walk from the JR Akihabara Station Electric Town exit. The 1st floor houses the buying counter, where items are appraised starting from just a single piece. Floors 2 through 8 are organized by genre — cosplay costumes, Disney goods, boys' comics, doujinshi, toys, figures — and trading cards are one category among that lineup rather than the shop's sole focus. Unlike a dedicated card shop built around a single game, the appeal here is browsing cards alongside the wider range of collector's items Mandarake is known for curating. Card-wise, the lineup includes Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG, Magic: The Gathering, and Duel Masters. It suits collectors who'd rather browse cards as part of a wider hunt through figures, old magazines, and anime goods than shoppers looking purely for cards. Buying is handled floor by floor, with staff appraising items by genre; bring items to the 1st-floor counter and you'll be directed from there. Few Akihabara shops combine cards with figures and doujinshi under one roof at this scale, and browsing the card section before working through the other floors is a big part of what makes a visit here distinctive.
