Description

Hobby Base Yellow Submarine's Akihabara flagship, "Mint," sits on the 6th floor of the Akihabara Radio Kaikan, one of the district's landmark buildings. As the flagship of a nationwide hobby-and-card chain, it leads with Pokémon cards and carries a broad range of titles — Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: The Gathering, Duel Masters and more — in both fresh packs and singles. What sets it apart is that, while it's a serious card shop, you can browse it alongside general hobby goods — plastic models, kits and figures — under the same roof. It's registered as an official Pokémon Card gym, and its in-store play space is used mainly for tournaments and events. Come for cards, then wander over to the Gunpla and figures: it's a very Akihabara way to spend an afternoon. It's about a two-minute walk from Akihabara Station's Electric Town exit — as close to the station as card shops get here — which makes it an easy first stop for anyone new to the area's card scene. With other card and hobby shops sharing the Radio Kaikan, it also suits people who want to cover a lot in a single building.
