BOOKOFF Akihabara Ekimae Store

// ABOUT THIS SHOP

This is a BOOKOFF store right by Akihabara Station, in Kanda Sakuma-cho. BOOKOFF is a nationwide secondhand/recycle shop chain, but this particular Akihabara-ekimae store is a large, multi-floor operation spanning 1F to 5F, selling everything from used books and CDs to game software and smartphones -- and the trading card section sits within that mix. The card corner has been renovated and expanded, and now includes a section for PSA-graded cards, a bargain corner, and original packs. It focuses mainly on Pokemon cards, alongside Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG and Magic: The Gathering, so it works well as a stop to check for finds while doing the rounds of specialty shops nearby. The fact that the card section runs its own separate social media account, apart from the main store account, suggests how much attention the chain is putting into that corner specifically. It's a 1-2 minute walk from Akihabara Station, and it keeps long hours from morning into the night. It suits people who find the intense atmosphere of dedicated card shops a bit much, people who want to browse other secondhand goods like books and games at the same time, and people who'd rather bring in cards alongside other items to sell in one trip. Since the floors are split by category, it's worth knowing you may need to walk a bit to find the section you're after.
