Hareruya

// ABOUT THIS SHOP

Hareruya Akihabara, spanning the 2nd through 5th floors of the Mikasa Building at Sotokanda 1-2-5, specializes in Magic: The Gathering, about a 3-minute walk from the JR Akihabara Station Electric Town exit. It's a sister brand to Hareruya2 Akihabara Tower Store, but where that shop deals exclusively in Pokémon, this one is MTG only. The shop has a play space seating 82 people at once, staffed by both certified Judges who officiate sanctioned tournaments and Teaching Meisters who specialize in guiding beginners. Even someone who's never touched MTG can expect staff to walk them through the rules from scratch. Buying covers everything from the newest booster packs to discounted singles, and the shop offers tax-free sales, making it accessible for overseas visitors too. Some kind of event runs almost daily, from weekday casual sessions to large weekend tournaments, serving casual players and competitive ones alike. A similarly named shop, Hareruya2 Akihabara Tower Store, also exists in Akihabara, but that one deals exclusively in Pokémon cards — if you're after MTG, this Mikasa Building location is the one to visit, so it's worth double-checking the name before heading out. Having both a Judge and a Teaching Meister on staff is a real asset among Akihabara's MTG specialty shops.
